Osmanlı Sultanı Kanuni Dönemi

Kanuni Dönemi'nde İstanbul'da birçok mimari eser inşa edilmiştir. Bu dönemde, özellikle Mimar Sinan'ın eserleri , şehre yepyeni bir görünüm kazandırmıştır. Bunların en önemlileri arasında; Süleymaniye Camii ve çevresi, Şehzadebaşı Camii ve çevresi, Sultan Selim Camii ve çevresi, Cihangir Camii , Edirnekapı ve Üsküdar'da Mihrime Sultan adına yaptırılan camiler ve Hürrem Sultan adına yaptırılan Haseki çevresi ve Haseki Hamamı bulunmaktadır.

Kanuni Sultan Süleyman döneminde İstanbul daha düzenli bir şehir haline geldi. Bir bakıma yeni göçler önlenmiş, ayrıca duvarların etrafına ev yapılması yasaklanmış, Galata'da her evin pencerelerine panjur takılması ve her binada taş yapı kullanılması zorunlu kılınmıştı.
