Highlights

  • Experience the last, largest, and probably most expensive palace of the sultans of the Ottoman Empire.

Full Description

Explore the Dolmabahçe Palace which is the last, biggest, and most costly royal residence of the sultans and the imperial family of the Ottoman Empire... You can enjoy visiting this amazing and luxurious palace with this guided tour. It is built by the orders of Sultan Abdülmecid I, opened in 1856, and the aim of it was to put the empire at the same degree of the European monarchies. Topkapı Palace holds some portion of the main relics of the main religions of the world and the fourth biggest and precious diamond on the planet. On the other hand, Dolmabahçe Palace holds the greatest gathering of Baccarat and Bohemian chandeliers on the planet, including the biggest Bohemian chandelier ever. The palace has such a great amount of gold in it, that practically half of the cost of the construction came from the gold used distinctly for the ceilings! Another distinction of Dolmabahçe Palace with the Topkapı Palace is the way that the furniture use when the palace was used, except the European-styled architecture. The Dolmabahçe Palace was the last headquarter of the empire. It served until 1922 when the empire was canceled by the request of the new Turkish National Assembly, and it was home to the last Crown Prince until the first quarter of 1924, when the Caliphate was abrogated and he and his family were expelled from Turkey.

It was easy to find the guide and he was very knowledgeable. I was with my elderly parents and they were walking slowly. The guide always waited us and asked if everything is OK. I really recommend it to everyone.
