Soğukçeşme Sokağı

Yasemin Evi, Hanımeli Evi ve Gül Evi… Bir zamanlar Topkapı Sarayı ve Ayasofya'nın en yüksek rütbeli memurları, adeta bir çiçek bahçesi olan bu sokaktaki konaklarda yaşardı. Soğukçeşme Caddesi'nin tarihi 8. yüzyıla kadar uzanıyor. Adını ise 1800 yılında inşa edilen bir çeşmeden almıştır. Roma İmparatorluğu'ndan kalma bir sarnıç, su depoları ve antik İstanbul evlerini barındıran cadde, çevresinin tarihi karakteriyle eşsiz bir uyum içinde varlığını sürdürmektedir.

Soğukçeşme Sokağı

Soğukçeşme Sokak'ta tur atarken siz de burada yaşamanın özlemini yaşayabilirsiniz. Ve aslında kısa bir süre için de olsa bunu yapma şansınız var. 1980'li yıllarda kapsamlı bir tadilat gören evler, şu anda pansiyon olarak hizmet veriyor. Ayrıca Roma Sarnıcı meyhaneye dönüştürülmüştür. Geleneksel Türk mimarisinin mükemmel bir örneği olan evler, 19. yüzyıl klasik tarzında dekore edilmiştir. Kadife perdeler, gardıroplar ve büyük aynalar ilk göze çarpan detaylar arasında yer alıyor.

İstanbul Kütüphanesi

İstanbul Kütüphanesi, Soğukçeşme Caddesi üzerindeki bir diğer önemli mekândır. Kütüphane, hem cadde hem de bölge için birçok önemli ve değerli projeye öncülük eden ve ne yazık ki birkaç yıl önce kaybettiğimiz ünlü İstanbul aşığı Çelik Gülersoy tarafından kurulmuştur. 1990 yılında ziyaretçilere açılan kütüphanede, İstanbul hakkında 10,000'den fazla nadir kitap bulunmaktadır.
