La geografía de Estambul

Estambul se encuentra entre las ciudades más especiales del mundo con su posición como puente entre Europa y Asia.

Al sur de Estambul se encuentra el Mar de Mármara y al norte el Mar Negro. La parte occidental de la ciudad está en Europa y la parte oriental en Asia. El curso de agua vital que divide Estambul es el Bósforo. Como puerto marítimo, es a la vez la ciudad asiática más cercana a Europa y la ciudad europea más cercana a Asia. La importancia de Estambul se basa en su importancia estratégica en un sentido comercial. Situada entre 280 01' y 290 55' de longitud este y 410 33' y 400 28' de latitud, Estambul se encuentra entre las mejores ciudades del mundo y funciona como un puente entre Europa y Asia. Esta ubicación geográfica le da características de Oriente y Occidente a la vez a la ciudad.
