About Ural Ataman Classic Car Museum

Since 2000, the Ural Classic Car Museum has operated out of its Tarabya location. It is packed with antique vehicles, each of which contributed significantly to the advancement of the automobile. With its decor and especially lovely collection, the museum continues to be a remarkable location that provides ideal service for meetings, private dinners, cocktails, birthday parties, and weddings. More than 60 vehicles from the 1920s to 1970s are on show at the museum, which is a popular destination for fans of vintage automobiles.

One of the few museums in Turkey devoted to historic cars, the Ural Ataman Classic Car Museum, exhibits cars from that time period, each of which has its own backstory. The 2,000-square-meter museum is a cultural attraction where visitors may explore living cars while listening to music from the corresponding era. As the museum was being built, a line that blended the old and new was discovered based on the historic cars and the style of life of the eras they belonged to. Large billboards, hubcap collections, and neon signs were harmoniously mixed; they are also essential to the area's lighting. Block A contains a bar area used to display American classics, which is a replica of the "diner" fast food places prevalent in the 1950s and 1960s America.

The model car collection in the same room is one of the centerpieces of the museum. On the top floor of Block B, where European cars are on exhibit, is the British Bar, which has a European flair and is constructed of cozier materials. It features a library suited for a museum, a piano, artifacts, and a model racetrack for vintage automobiles.

What’s Inside the Ural Ataman Classic Car Museum?

The museum, which is built on an area of 2000 square meters, is a cultural stop that resists time, where live cars are exhibited and can be visited while enjoying the music of that period. This museum consists of two different parts of floors and has divided the cars according to the years. In the first part, the ground floor houses mainly American cars and motorcycles from the 1950s and 1960s, accompanied by a recreated 1950s diner with neon signs and a jukebox playing medieval hits. The second floor on the upper floor houses a reconstructed European bar and, most importantly, the museum's private collection of European cars. In addition, a small library, model racetrack, and other collections welcome you on the same floor.

Highlights of the fully intact collection on display at this private museum include the 1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster, 1954 Chevrolet Corvette, 1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible, 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, and 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II. Ataman Classic Car Museum exhibited more than 60 cars from 1920 to 1970. With its decoration and unique collection, the museum is an alternative venue for special meetings, corporate events, celebrations, and birthday parties.

How to Get to the Ural Ataman Classic Car Museum

One of Istanbul's most picturesque neighborhoods, the Sariyer area, is home to the Ural Ataman Classic Car Museum. The Metin Oktay stop is the one that is most convenient for the museum. IETT buses with the numbers 25C, 29D, 29M1, 41C, 41SF, 42, and 59RH can take you to this bus stop.

Unfortunately, the Haciosman stop, which is more than 2 kilometers away, is the nearest metro stop to the Ural Ataman Classic Car Museum. You are still better off using the buses even if you travel to the Haciosman stop because most of the IETT buses we described above also depart from that stop. However, take care because IETT buses only accept IstanbulKarts; they do not accept cash.

From the Asian side, you can use the ferries to the Istinye from Cubuklu or Cengelkoy. From the Istinye stop, get on the 25C bus and leave at the Metin Oktay stop.
