Turkish Tile Painting Workshop

Turkish tile art is a centuries-old tradition that beautifully reflects the country’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. In 2016, UNESCO recognized this unique art form by including it in the list of intangible cultural heritage, a testament to its significance in both Turkish culture and the wider world. The intricate patterns seen on the walls of Istanbul’s most famous mosques, like the Sultanahmet Mosque and the Topkapi Palace, are just a glimpse of the timeless artistry that has been passed down through generations.

In this hands-on Turkish Tile Painting Workshop, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in this beautiful tradition and create your piece of art. You will be guided through every step of the process, from selecting your design to transferring it onto a ceramic tile. I will show you how to use ceramic paints to bring these traditional patterns to life and provide all the materials you need for this creative endeavor. The designs you’ll choose from are inspired by those found in some of Istanbul's most iconic landmarks, ensuring your tile is a true representation of Turkish artistic traditions.

Once you’ve completed your tile painting, it will be glazed and fired in a kiln, making it a lasting keepsake that you can take home with you. While the glazing process takes a few days, you will have the option to either collect your piece in 7-10 days or, if you're unable to return it, I will gladly send it to you for an additional postage fee. Alternatively, if you can’t wait to take your creation home, I will provide you with an unglazed tile so you can arrange to have it fired in a kiln back in your home country.
