Tunnel Tramway
Galata, located on the northern side of the Golden Horn, is a lively area full of history and beautiful sights. If you have a few hours, take a walk to explore some of the best spots! Start at the busy Tunel Funicular Beyoglu Station, which is one of the starting points of the historic Tunel Funicular Line, one of the oldest underground railways still in use. Then, we’ll walk along the Beyoglu Cultural Route, famous for its history, culture, and art. As we walk, we’ll pass through lively streets, watch vendors selling their goods, and see locals going about their day. It’s a great chance to experience the energy and charm of the area.
Galata Tower
Next, we’ll visit the famous Galata Tower, one of Istanbul’s symbols. This historic tower was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List in 2013. It’s believed to be one of the oldest towers in the world, built around 500 AD.
Kamondo Stairs
After that, we’ll pass by the Kamondo Stairs, a beautiful staircase with an art deco design. Its ribbon-like shape makes it a great place for photos. Then we’ll walk to Galata Bridge, which is an important part of the area. This famous bridge has been mentioned in many Turkish books, poems, and stories. We’ll cross the bridge, enjoy the view, and take some photos before catching a tram to Fener.
Fener & Balat
Once we arrive, we’ll explore Fener and Balat, two of the oldest neighborhoods in Istanbul. We’ll walk through the colorful streets, see the old houses, and experience the local atmosphere. Finally, we’ll visit the Spice Bazaar, where you can explore the busy aisles before we finish the tour.
