Since the early days, people who moved to Istanbul established many colonies, some of them Christian, some were Jewish, and many of these colonies built churches near them. St. Anthony of Padua is one of those beautiful churches that are located in Istiklal Street, the first structure was built in 1725 by the Italian community, and later on, was replaced with a newer structure based on the same location. The style of architecture of this church is Neo-Gothic style of architecture and the later structure was built in between 1906 and 1912. The next one on our list is the Church of St. Mary Draperis, this Roman Catholic church is as beautiful as the St. Anthony, which has a wonderful architecture. The Neve Shalom Synagogue is one of those Orthodox Judaism synagogues that are located in the area, this particular synagogue has suffered three terrorist attacks, in 1986, 1992, and 2003.
