About Madame Tussaud Museum

Madame Tussauds Museum was established in London in 1835 by the French wax artist Marie Tussaud, and it later inspired other wax museums to open in major cities around the world. The apostrophe was once used to distinguish it from "Madame Tussaud's," but it is no longer. Today, Madame Tussauds is a well-known tourist attraction in many cities, featuring wax replicas of historical figures as well as popular film and television personalities. You can read more about the brand history on Wikipedia.

Madame Tussaud Istanbul at a Glance

Madame Tussaud Istanbul is a wax museum and also one of the famous entertainment centers in the city. Located in the Grand Pera building on Istiklal Avenue, it offers around two thousand square meters of exhibition space with life-size wax statues of celebrities, including both local cultural heroes and international stars.

The main Madame Tussauds center is in London and goes back 250 years, while the Istanbul branch officially opened in 2016 and is considered the 26th branch of Madame Tussauds.

What to See Inside

When you walk into this museum, you get the chance to meet celebrities and public figures through life-size wax statues. Some are internationally known, while others are especially famous in Turkey.

The museum includes several halls or galleries that organize the figures by profession and public image. The galleries are categorized as Music, Sports, Science and Culture, VIP Party, History, and famous leaders. In these sections, visitors can find some of the most recognized names in each field.

The museum also includes two major Turkish leaders, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Fatih Sultan Mehmet.

If you are planning a walk around the area before or after your visit, Taksim Square is only a short distance away, and Galata Tower can also fit into the same Beyoglu outing.
