We weren't sure we were going to visit ahead of time, but are so glad we did because this was such a unique space. You can walk the path at your pace and stop to take pictures, so you can make the visit as long or short as you need. A lot of stairs, but once at the bottom it's flat. I'd be careful with young children because there isn't much to prevent falling in.

The Basilica Cistern is truly one of Istanbul’s hidden gems and an unforgettable experience. As soon as you step inside, you’re transported into a mysterious, almost magical underground world. The soft lighting, the cool air, and the reflection of the ancient columns in the water create a unique and atmospheric setting unlike anything else in the city.

Must see when in Istanbul. So beautiful, known as ‘The Sunken Palace’. There are over 300 columns and no two are alike. They also filmed movies here. James Bond ‘From Russia With Love’, Inferno, and International. It's also a great place to get out of the heat.

This place is a must-visit. I was captivated by the colors and architecture, it felt truly magical, especially when the orange-red lights were on, enhancing the atmosphere even more. Definitely opt for the skip-the-queue ticket, it’s absolutely worth it!
The cistern is a wonderful place to visit in Istanbul. There were quite long queues, but with the Istanbul Tourist Pass we used during our 3 day stay, everything was much easier as we had priority.
