Opened in 2023 inside the former Defter i Hakani Registry Building, the museum spans about 3,200 square meters across 13 curated galleries. The journey begins with the founding of the Byzantine Empire and follows Hagia Sophia through the ages, highlighting figures such as Constantine the Great, Emperor Theodosius, the mathematician Isidore, and Emperor Justinian. The Ottoman era unfolds from the conquest of Constantinople through the patronage of sultans and the timeless work of Mimar Sinan. Nearly 300 original artifacts appear beside digital scenography for a vivid, multisensory encounter.

Follow the timeline from foundation to restoration, study models that explain the great dome, and spend time with mosaic themed rooms and Ottoman court sections set to layered soundscapes.
