Suleymaniye Mosque is a huge imperial mosque complex that sits on one of Istanbul's seven hills, watching over the city. It was built by the famous Ottoman architect, Mimar Sinan, and is a true masterpiece. Built during the reign of Suleyman the Magnificent, it has four minarets to symbolise that Sultan Suleyman was the fourth sultan after Constantinople was conquered. On this tour, you'll explore the historic districts from Sulemaniye to Vefa. You'll hear many interesting stories about the history of Turkey and architect Sinan from your expert guide. Finally, we'll walk around Vefa which is famous for Boza, a fermented drink made from grains that people in these lands have drunk for centuries. A non-alcoholic version was developed in the 19th century and Vefa became the most famous area to find it. Even the first President of the Turkish Republic drank Boza here!
