You will meet your guide at the main entrance to the Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora, known as Chora Church or Kariye Museum in Turkey.
Originally a medieval Greek Orthodox Church, it was converted into a mosque during the Ottoman Empire and became a museum in 1948. The whole interior is covered in beautiful Byzantine mosaics and frescoes that were restored when the building became a museum. Prepare to be amazed because they are truly stunning! They are especially meaningful if you are familiar with Biblical stories, but your guide will give you all the details on-site so everyone can appreciate them. For example, the mosaics depict scenes from the New Testament including the birth of Christ, the journey of the Magi, Christ going to Jerusalem for Passover and Jesus' miracles.
Pick up and drop off service.
Please be at the meeting point 5 minutes before the meeting time. The guide will be holding a blue flag that says "Istanbul Walks".
