The first stop will be Ortakoy. You will probably have seen pictures of the beautiful Büyük Mecidiye Mosque, or simply Ortakoy Mosque, located right in front of the Bosphorus Bridge. It's an absolutely stunning work of art designed by the Armenian architect Nikogos Balyan on the orders of Sultan Abdulmecid. The square outside the mosque is often busy as there are lots of cafes and restaurants in the area. Ortakoy is particularly famous for "Kumpir" (baked potatoes with various toppings and fillings) and waffles. Why not have a taste while you're there? On weekends, there are sometimes stalls where you can buy handmade souvenirs.
Next, we will cruise to Kucuksu Palace. Again, it was designed by Nikogos Balyan on the orders of Sultan Abdulmecid and completed in 1857. It's situated in the Kucuksu neighbourhood on the Asian side of Istanbul and can be seen from its best angle from the Bosphorus. The Palace was restored in 1994 so you can see the luxurious and ornate interior for yourself.
Next, we'll return to the boat for snacks and refreshments on the way to Rumeli Hisari Fortress. The Fortress was built to prevent anyone from entering the Bosphorus and reaching Constantinople to help the Byzantines during the Ottoman conquest. You'll be able to get out and explore the fortress which has great views over the Bosphorus. Don't forget your camera!
At the end of the tour, our transport vehicles will take you back to your hotel. Or, if you prefer, you can get off at Dolmabahce Palace, Karakoy (near Galata Tower) or Eminonu (near the Spice Bazaar). Please let your guide know if you would like to get off somewhere other than your hotel before you take the transfer vehicle.
