Full Description

Our tour starts from Hagia Sophia which is one of the marvels of world architecture and was built as a church by the Emperor Justinian in the early 6th century AD. With the conquest of Istanbul, was converted into a mosque in 1453, and now serving as a museum. It is also famed for its mosaics, including glittering portraits of emperors and empresses and a poignant Virgin and Child. Next, Blue Mosque** will be visited. its name comes from the exquisite tiles adorning its interior. Built by Sultan Ahmet I in the early 17th century, and designed by Mimar Sinan, the greatest of architects of Ottoman Empire. Its six minarets and blue Iznik tiles make this mosque unique. Our next station will be the Hippodrome, the sport center of Byzantium Empire, held 100,000 spectators and featured objects from all corners of the empire. Of these, an Egyptian obelisk and a bronze sculpture of three entwined serpents from Delphi survive. We will also visit the Grand Bazaar which was the commercial heart of the old city with its 4,000 shops. Following lunch we continue with Topkapı Palace that is the residence of the Ottoman Sultans  untill 19th century.  We will see the marvellous Treasury of Ottoman Empire which is the 3rd largest in the world. We will see the examples of the  Ottoman court costumes and ceramics. Our last stop will be The New Mosque (Yeni Cami) that is located southern end of the Galata Bridge, one of the greatest mosque of the Istanbul.
