Full Description

Have you heard of Gallipoli? Gallipoli is a few hours drive from Istanbul and is the site of a famous battle between the Allies (particularly soldiers from Australia and New Zealand, called ANZACs) and Turks in World War I as part of the Allied campaign to capture Constantinople. Unfortunately, it was a disaster for the Allies with more than 60,000 soldiers killed, including 10,880 ANZACs, and many thousands wounded. Although victorious, the Ottomans also suffered great losses with an estimated 85,000 soldiers killed.

It's a sombre journey but deeply moving and powerful. Your guide will take you to key battle locations and the many memorials to fallen ANZACS and Turkish soldiers where you'll learn about the great sacrifices they made for their countries.

On the tour, you'll visit:
• Brighton Beach;
• Beach Cemetery;
• ANZAC Cove, Ariburnu Cemetery;
• ANZAC Commemorative Site;
• Respect to Mehmetcik Statue;
• Lone Pine Australian Memorial;
• Johnston's Jolly (Turkish and Allied trenches and tunnels);
• 57th Regiment Turkish Memorial; and
• The Nek, Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial.
