The Economy of Istanbul

Istanbul makes an important contribution of 46% of total export and of 40% to Turkey’s total import.

Never having lost its position as an “economy center” from the moment it was established, Istanbul still retains this characteristic. Indeed, the city forms the backbone of the Turkish economy.

At the same time, having many advantages from historical and cultural perspectives on its way to becoming a worldwide tourism center, Istanbul has also made important progress in becoming the center of congresses and meetings, due to its facilities and geographical location.
