Full Description
Do you know what "Byzantine" refers to? The Byzantine Empire, also called the Eastern Roman Empire, existed from about 330 to 1453 with Constantinople, today's Istanbul, as its capital. It was a Christian State and was a period during which unique religious practices, political systems, art and architecture were developed, and its influence continues to be seen and felt today.
On this walking tour, explore Byzantine monasteries and old Byzantine churches, stone houses, cisterns, dungeons, columns, palaces and more! The highlight of the day is definitely Chora Church where you will see amazing mosaics and frescos depicting Biblical and apocryphal scenes. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Customer Reviews
Very professional and informative, interesting
As promised, with a great guide
We are picked up late from our hotel but the kindness and the knowledges of our guide excused it.
They need to elaborate on lunch. Could be better.
The story of Leonardo da Vinci effected me so much. In His period while he was in Istanbul he visited so much the Chora Church. The myth says Leonardo has been effected from a fresco than he painted Mona Lisa.
