Full Description

After being picked up from your hotel, travel with your guide to Uskudar Station on the Asian side of Istanbul. Together, you'll spend the morning exploring the old neighbourhood and learning about its history. The noteworthy buildings in this area include the Mihrimah Mosque, built by Architect Sinan in 1548, and the military hospital which became well-known during the Crimean War because of Florence Nightingale's modern nursing methods.

Then take a break for lunch and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant. Afterwards, you'll head to Kadikoy, which was historically known as Chalcedon. In 451AD, a very important church council took place there to try to settle an issue of Christian Doctrine about the nature of Jesus' humanity and divinity. It was a very contentious issue and, after disagreeing with the findings of the council, which became known as the Council of Chalcedon, the Oriental Orthodox Churches later separated from the rest of Christianity.

Today, Kadikoy is a very modern, trendy neighbourhood with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants set between historical buildings, churches, mosques and mansions. After touring the area, you'll take a scenic boat ride across the Bosphorus back to the European side where our transfer vehicles will take you back to your hotel.

I already read much things about Istanbul s highlight areas. All of them was mentioning about the Old City of Istanbul. That s ok, there are a lot of historical heritages but know this there is another living part of the city. Asian side.
